The Knoxville Fire Department is actively seeking dedicated men and women to serve as firefighters. Each firefighter of the Knoxville Fire Department must meet minimum requirements to respond to calls.
As part of the Fire Academy, each member must participate in approximately five months of classes prior to testing and becoming certified at the Firefighter I level.
Training is designed to become Firefighter I certified. Each member will also participate in the EMT training, which upon completion, the member will obtain the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician, (EMT). Certification of EMT and Firefighter I is required within two years.
Other specialty training opportunities include vehicle extrication, rope rescue, water rescue, confined space and many other topics.
