Community Service Officer
The Community Service Officer (CSO) is responsible for providing code and parking enforcement within the city. The CSO investigates complaints of people failing to maintain their property and works with the property owner to resolve these issues and gain compliance with City Code.

Drug Task Force
The Drug Task Force is a cooperative effort between multiple agencies in detecting the use and sale of illicit drugs through investigation and drug interdiction.

Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau 
The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau is designed to assist agencies and initiate programs that address traffic safety related problems. The main emphasis areas to be addressed are:
  • Alcohol
  • Emergency medical services
  • Motorcycles
  • Pedestrian / bicycle safety
  • Seatbelts
  • Speed

Ride Along Program
Was developed to enhance relationships between the community and the Police Department. This program is designed to be an educational opportunity for residents and business persons to view first hand police practices, procedures, and activity within our community. In order to participate, you will be required to meet criteria within the policy and fill out an application, which can be obtained at the Police Department.

Community Policing
The Knoxville Police Department has an organization-wide philosophy and management approach that promotes partnerships, proactive problem solving, and community engagement to address the causes of crime, the fear of crime and other community issues.

Reserve Officer Program
The Knoxville Police Department has a volunteer force of reserve officers to supplement the full-time force. Reserve officers, upon successful completion of mandatory training standards dictated by the Code of Iowa and the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, may be utilized to assist full-time officers in the delivery of law enforcement services. Reserve officers will comply with departmental orders and policies as well as Knoxville Reserve Unit rules, regulations, and by-laws.
