Fire Suppression Division
Fire calls bar graphThe Fire Suppression Division is staffed by 14 firefighter-qualified members and supported by the EMS and part-time staff. The Fire Suppression Division provides fire suppression, rescue services, and fire inspections to the citizens and visitors of Knoxville.

A hazardous materials incident management team is currently being formed. Members of the Knoxville Fire Department and surrounding departments will provide hazardous material technician level services to all of Marion County.

Training
Through a series of mutual-aid agreements, the Knoxville Fire Department assists neighboring communities with emergencies and training. Knoxville Fire Department members typically respond from home or work and are paid on a per-call basis. A typical member of the Knoxville Fire Department will participate in over 24 hours of training per year. Knoxville Fire Department members participate in both the EMS Division and Fire Division. The Fire Division responds to 80-100 incidents per year. Additional responses for extrication from vehicle accidents also keep firefighters quite busy.

Leadership
The Fire Suppression Division is led by Deputy Chief Ben Truetken. Ben and his staff are Engine 312constantly reviewing state of the art techniques to improve fire protection for the citizens of Knoxville.

  • Engine 311: 1990 Pierce Lance 1,250 GPM Pumper with high volume foam system
  • Rescue 317: 2009 Ford / Pierce Rescue Truck with TNT rescue tools
