Responsibilities

The Planning and Zoning Commission is appointed to act in matters pertaining to the development of city planning and zoning. Duties of the commission include:

  • Assisting with the administration of the Knoxville Comprehensive Plan and update as necessary 
  • Making recommendations to City Council for public statues, memorials, bridges, and public buildings
  • Reviewing subdivision plans or plats prior to approval
