On Monday, Sept. 16th, work will begin on Second Street at Robinson and will extend south to the alley (about mid-block). The Downtown Streetscape contractor, Hawkeye Paving, will begin work on a new storm sewer installation. This project will only include road removals and the sidewalks will remain intact. The half-block section of street will be blocked off during the removals. Once the storm sewer is installed, the contractors will repave the street and reopen it to pedestrian traffic and parking.
This stormsewer will greatly enhance water drainage in the downtown area. As part of this $3.087m project, over $250,000 are being spent to install and/or repair storm sewers within the project area.
